• Requires mulitple surgeries (one to insert the expander, one to remove the expander and excise the nevus)

• Requires the expander to be filled over the course of weeks

• Leaves a visible scar, especially if the nevus is large or in a prominent area.

• Requires local anesthesia, which can be uncomfortable or painful for some individuals.

• May take several weeks for the wound to heal and the scar to fade.

Punch Biopsy: 

This involves using a circular tool to remove a small section of the nevus, leaving a hole that is closed with stitches.

Pros:

• Provides a tissue sample for histopathological examination.

• Results in a smaller scar compared to excisional surgery.

• May be quicker and less invasive than other surgical options.

Cons:

• May not be suitable for large or irregularly shaped nevi.
